Well, I was out a bit longer than expected, just over 5 weeks in total, but I had a fantastic time. The weather was, um, variable. We had perfect days where I was able to spend the afternoon out on the bow enjoying the sun and we had days when force nine gales were blowing and fishing was impossible (as was standing still!). I got my first experience of international waters which was fun but to be honest one patch of sea looks pretty much the same as the other. You will be pleased (hopefully!) to hear I got some new species, some of which are quite cool (at least I think so). One of the coolest fish I got was this: It’s a pigfish ( Congiopodus peruvianus ). It’s about 30 cm or so long and as you can probably tell the skin is really tough. I think they look a bit like punk rockers with the huge dorsal fin!
